The mind is not you, you are a manifestation of the mind. To be clear, there is the you, which is your chemistry, the physical you, and there is another you which is the passenger (the ego) which has some volition, but not to the degree we believe we do. The mind is manifested in a bottom-up process of sensation which is first recognized as feeling. Feeling, or affect, then posits a positive or negative valence on the object of sensation and provides a frame for the mind to interpret through reason.

Mostly a question for neuroscientists. From a subjective experience point of view, we have to do a lot of work to be able to look at our minds. It's very hard.

The mind is like a Referee for an instance of existence.

The mind is an interesting concept, and one that we usually only associate with humans given our conscious knowledge of "being" and abstract thought. But all humans have an innate individuality, something that makes us unique to the billions of other humans out there. We develop a personality, which defines how we interact with others, handle situations and make decisions. In the argument of nature vs nurture, I believe nurture has a huge impact on our personality and mind. Our experiences shape us, and serve as the foundation for future decisions. But given the uniqueness of each human and the myriad of motivations that propel us into action, we can be unpredictable, impulsive, complex. But I do believe in the physical manifestation of the mind: chemical reactions in the brain create our ability to think, feel, react. I do not adhere to the idea of a soul because nobody can manifest their soul like we manifest our mind into thoughts, memories and feelings. We are not conscious of a soul, and our soul does not compel us to act (unless we call our conscience a soul, but I would consider our conscience part of our mind). So much to uncover and understand about the mind that thinking about it is almost an ethereal concept.

The mind wants to take over and rule the Self like a dictator. It foolishly believes that if it stopped chattering for one second, then the whole show would fall into chaos.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

The Mind is a cluster of functions of the brain. Thinking and feeling create my experience while consciousness, memory, attention make possible of me being aware of the performing these very functions. It is a concept, like a joy or pain.

The brain is a biological transceiver wired to tune-in to a frequency on the spectrum of consciousness. The mind is the output.

The human mind can be forged into peace and harmony with practice, but it is inclined to chaos without conscious, determined effort. The mind is a wandering, unruly puppy, that must be gently and compassionately trained.
