Why assume it began?

A mixture of light and nothing.

A bastardization of the concept of appropriateness.

Willpower costs energy, so no its not free.

Judgement/discernment. 

Listen to others. Listen to yourself. Repeat.

The purpose of life is to imbue it with meaning.

Change is constant. Without evolution living systems would crystallize and eventually become too brittle to move with that change.
