It's subjective, could be a Religion or it could be a set of standards or rules that the individual abides by. Not violating those rules.

As a living being, we have neural mechanisms, or modules, which instill a preference for positive stimuli and an aversion from negative stimuli. We then inherently label objects and beings as having a positive or negative valence. Since this labeling exists along a continuum, the extreme value of positive are called goodness. Goodness can be in you (as we often think ourselves) or can be put onto you. We exist in a world of relationships.

Goodness on it's own is probably just Aristotelian fulfilment of specific needs. Things are good when they work as intended. Charity and self-lessness and love are more loaded.

When the sum happiness of human beings is greater than the sum misery.

Good leads to Measure and Absolute Life, which includes not only a life of object's 1 dimension, but all his dimensions. And since on the highest dimension everybody, everything is the same(light and darkness) The Good is the special state where Everything could live.

The origin of good is associated with aspects of reality that support Life.

I believe the goodness in man is an evolutionary trait of survival (as is evil, but more on that in the next question). Human societies seem to thrive when members collaborate. This can be seen in the explosion of agriculture around 8k years ago, which gave birth to the first real societies. Big institutions like governments, economies, armies, schools and companies would not exist without humans helping each other and collaborating for a greater good. That good is almost always self serving (ie survival). I don't think its a coincidence that some of the biggest outpouring of goodness in society usually follows big catastrophes. We help one another survive and thrive, so we must be good to each other.

Acknowledging the other. . . when you start to understand that there is what what you are/know/do and then there is the other (what you aren't/don't do/don't know), you can begin to see the size of your self in a more realistic way. This is the beginning of understanding what would happen if every single person did the same thing you are doing RIGHT NOW. Think about being the point of origin of a behavior, as if all those people did something because you did it. I, personally, want what I put out there to result in more positive than negative. And in more "greater good" where we all benefit, together.

The most stable, safe, resilient methods for achieving the reproduction and perpetuation of the species and life itself are preferred.

Goodness comes from logic. If someone understands the world around them, it is logical for them to put good in rather than evil.

Humans.

Human connections create good, care for children within families, human connections, and communities.

Goodness is fickle. For one individual, goodness might be philanthropy. For another, it might be genocide. Is the release death provides a goodness for someone living with chronic pain? Is the philanthropic work a father provides a goodness to his children if it starves them of his attentions?

Staying in your own lane. We will all be better if we can stop comparing.

Understanding that we are all one. The more we understand that you are me and I am you, the less we hurt each other. And the more we understand the concept of Ubuntu: when you succeed, I succeed.

I'm convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they're stones that don't matter. As long as you're breathing, it's never too late to do some good.

The likelihood that your acts of resistance cannot stop the injustice does not exempt you from acting in what you sincerely and reflectively hold to be the best interests of your community.

Question leads its answer. So good had an origin? What the question really asks is "how good became to be? What is good in the first place?"

Empathy and affection.

Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.

Mirror neurons. Evolution is God's creative process. Once mirror neurons emerged, empathy became possible. No mirror neurons, no empathy. No empathy, no good.

Pain, doing things in order not to feel or inflict pain.

Eusocial hominids, using mirror neurons, created and genetically encoded altruism and friendship. Surviving evolved into the drive to cooperate and to understand. The wisdom -understanding- translates socially into good, true and beautiful.

Oh come on, goodness and evil are concepts. Things just ARE. We assign them these judgements. Now people can be kind - I think kindness is an evolutionary strategy that was successful for humans.
